We’re looking for Environmental Protection Technicians to join our Tactical Operations team on a permanent basis as part of the evolution of Tac Ops, our controlling mind for the business here at Anglian Water.

What you’ll be doing:  


We are seeking dedicated Environmental Protection Technicians to join our team and play a crucial role in managing and mitigating environmental risks within our 24/7 control room. The EPT will be responsible for both proactive and reactive management of environmental compliance and risk mitigation. This includes overseeing tankering and jetting operations, handling calls, and managing tanker requests through the Non-Routine Database (NRDB). The EPT will identify opportunities to optimize tanker use, prioritize deployments based on risk, and ensure effective environmental management and resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Compliance: Oversee imports, manage third-party interactions, and monitor red light incidents to ensure adherence to environmental standards and regulatory requirements.

Operational Management: Supervise tankering and jetting operations, triage calls, and process

tanker requests in the NRDB. Identify and implement opportunities for optimizing tanker use and prioritizing deployments.

Risk Mitigation: Respond to requests from the Environment Agency (EA), arrange compliance checks, and address defects promptly to minimize environmental impact.

Reporting and Administration: Manage key compliance reporting, update risk management systems, and assist with general compliance tasks to maintain accurate records and streamline operations.

Cross-Role Support: Provide support to the Environmental Control Technician (ECT) and collaborate to ensure a cohesive approach to environmental protection.

Ideally you’ll also be familiar with the water industry & already possess some technical understanding of Water Networks & Water Recycling Treatment, as well as the telemetry data systems we use to identify & predict future events however, we know this experience can be hard to find outside of the Anglian Water ecosystem, so we’ll provide full training to candidates who can demonstrate the key criteria & behaviours we’re looking for.
