Business Performance Analyst

We’re looking for a brilliant Business Performance Analyst to join our team of over 5,000 colleagues in British Gas Energy, that together are setting the standard in energy supply.

The Business Performance Analyst will be part of the British Gas Business, Business Finance Team. This team forms part of British Gas Energy, focusing on energy supply to businesses. As a Business Finance team, we focus on partnering with the business to provide insights helping drive better decision making and improved performance.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the Business Performance Manager to produce top-notch materials on business performance. Your efforts will directly contribute to informed decision-making processes, ultimately adding significant value to our operations.

Key Accountabilities of the role

  • Understand business strategy and its translation into financial impacts and support its effective communication across Finance.
  • Produce standard finance deliverables e.g., Monthly Business Review pack to the agreed format, timeline and quality. Encompassing both actuals and forecast and associated insights / decisions required.
  • Support delivery of an accurate and efficient forecast.
  • Translate financial business performance into clear reporting content through PowerPoint & Excel (for inclusion in MBRs and MPRs).
  • Support production of weekly KPIs.
  • Carry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision making.
  • Report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, working with the business to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Finance / Group teams.

Who are we looking for?

  • Recognised accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc) or passed finalist
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships.
  • Motivated by continuous improvement and delivering high quality outputs.
  • Experience of providing commercial analysis and evaluation
  • Strong IT skills e.g. Excel & PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to summarise complex data and matters and communicate effectively
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks & stakeholders while working to tight deadlines
  • Experience working within a large organisation dealing with group teams producing summarised information would be advantageous
