PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for overseeing the operation of the refrigeration department utilizing proven engineering methods to optimize refrigeration operations while ensuring all work is compliant with company policies, regulatory guidelines and all Federal, State and local legal requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the refrigeration team responsible for the maintenance and repair of all refrigeration components at the facility ensuring that all systems are in optimal working condition or repaired in the most efficient and cost effective manner
- Oversee the boiler and refrigeration inspections to ensure all are completed in a timely manner
- Partner with internal departments such as Environmental Safety, Operations, Engineering, Product Development and Quality Assurance concerning utility related issues, installation of new equipment, capital projects and/or process improvement initiatives
- Maintain an accurate and effective parts inventory
- Partner with internal departments to determine refrigeration project needs; supervise and support projects from design to commission
- Identify areas for process optimization by determining issues with existing systems; analyze root cause and recommend solutions
- Ensure compliance with all safety related aspects of the refrigeration systems in accordance with regulations and codes
- Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical School certification preferred
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience in refrigeration maintenance
- Demonstrated two (2) years’ leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English (read, write, speak and comprehend)
- Advance computer skills required.
- Advanced training in refrigeration and controls.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow and ensure others follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work non-standard hours (holidays, weekends and extended shifts) when needed
- Ability to move about the facility including stooping, kneeling and up and downs stairs and ladders as needed
- Limited travel required
