Responsibilities of the Literacy and Math Tutor Coach

  • Collaborating with the Amplify Math team in order to ensure materials and structures for math tutoring are understandable for tutors to implement

  • Developing professional development based on materials and structure provided for tutoring and facilitating trainings for Baltimore tutors via both virtual and in-person delivery as needed

  • Developing trusting relationships with school leaders and points of contacts in order to prioritize high-impact tutoring within the school schedule

  • Providing clear, actionable suggestions in order to improve tutoring implementation at the school level

  • Observing in-person tutoring lessons and providing concise, constructive feedback to tutors

  • Coaching in-person tutors based on observations and implementation fidelity measures (lesson log completion, lesson pacing, progress monitoring, instructional practices, etc.)

  • Developing support plans and improvement plans as needed in service of tutors continuing to develop and grow in pedagogical and content knowledge

  • Using established protocols to ensure fidelity and norming across multiple locations/ schools

  • Reporting key metrics of implementation at the school level accurately in order to rollup to the network and program level

  • Routinely analyzing observational data to pull out trends across the schools in order to codify findings and prioritize programmatic needs

  • Collaborating with the national coaching team and regional team to refine resources, tools, and processes to support stronger implementations

  • Scheduling and maintaining records for site visits based on scope and tutoring schedule (likely 4-5 days of site visits per week in alignment with need and scope)

  • Collaborating with Site Director, Program Manager, and Director to present all data to the district leaders in order to inform needed adjustments to the program

  • Supporting Reading Tutors in using mCLASS Intervention lessons and assessments and Math Tutors in using Amplify Math assessments and Boost Math mini lessons

  • Collaborating with Tutoring Talent to create or refine the tools, systems, and training necessary to onboard new Tutors

  • Working in partnership with the Site Director and Program Manager to communicate expectations with Tutors and ensuring they are on time, on schedule, and following lessons with integrity

  • Developing and facilitating professional development to district and school leaders that use Amplify Tutoring materials

Basic Qualifications of the Literacy and Math Tutor Coach

  • 5+ years of PK-12 school based experience

  • 3+ years of experience with teacher coaching in both individual and group settings at a school and/or district scale

  • Strong background in upper elementary and lower middle school math content

  • Knowledge of the Science of Reading in early literacy and modern Research-Based Math Instruction (conceptual vs. procedural)

  • Demonstrated knowledge and strong pedagogy of teaching upper elementary math and elementary reading content

  • Proficient with technology (GoogleMeets, Google docs, Google platforms)

  • Experience delivering professional development to district and school leaders

  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and practices, including methods of differentiating instruction and fostering student engagement

Preferred Qualifications of the Literacy and Math Tutor Coach 

  • Has experience tutoring

  • Experience successfully implementing complex tutoring programs

  • Experience providing technical assistance and consulting support related to tutoring implementations to district and school level leaders 

  • Knowledge of and experience using Desmos

  • Knowledge of and experience using iReady Math

  • Knowledge of and experience using Amplify mCLASS products

  • Experience launching and implementing tutoring programs

The annualized gross salary range for this role is
$75,000 - $90,000
