The Motorola Solutions team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we work to deploy mission critical communication systems.
Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers' sub-systems. With the growth of data services some of our customers’ mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with connectivity to an LTE infrastructure, leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video, supplementing our traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead customer presentations
System staging
Complete system documentation
Live system upgrades
Ensuring the integrity of the architecture/design
Individuals will be responsible for carrying out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle. He/she will be responsible for upgrading/deploying various devices which include network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices. Along with above duties, individuals will be a customer facing technical resource through the upgrade effort. He/She will be primarily traveling to Northeastern US states’ customer locations to carry out their duties.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) highly desirable
Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar, highly desirable
Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon, highly desirable
Experience directly working with end-user customers is essential
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences is essential
Up to 50% travel is required for upgrade projects.
Salary range for the New York area: $80k-$100k.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking and 3+ years of Engineering or Wireless Communications experience
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a background clearance as required by our government customers.
