Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.  

Under the direction of a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Interns receive practical training toward becoming a competent Pharmacist to ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will assist the Pharmacist in the delivery of pharmacy services and assure the appropriate delivery of medications to nursing areas, admix IVs and other compounds and help in the general maintenance of pharmacy operations. In this role, you may also support at Tradition Hospital occasionally if needed.

This position provides opportunities for growth, offering the ability to learn and continue developing in other roles, with the added chance to cross-train as well.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working various day shifts from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with float requirements at Tradition Hospital

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Refill, load and maintain the inventory of automated medications

  • Admix intravenous medications

  • Purchase and receive medications. Unit doses medications

  • Charge and credit medications when necessary

  • Perform unit inspections

  • Comply with daily task requirements as outlined by the shift

  • Assist the pharmacists with assigned clinical review of patient's medical records

  • Work on prior authorizations and contact patients as well as insurance companies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor's or pre-pharmacy Associate's degree. 

  • Active Florida Pharmacy Intern License (PH/INT-FL). 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Hospital experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent walking from department to department. Requires sitting at a workstation or desk.

  • Requires standing.

  • Requires occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds, such as IV fluids, files, documents and computer printouts.

  • Requires finger dexterity and eye hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.

  • Requires working at a fast pace to prioritize multiple assignments/projects.

  • Responds to numerous requests.

  • Requires the ability to resolve conflicts among staff.

  • Requires to work collaboratively with the department director, pharmacy staff, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team.

  • Requires the ability to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Requires the ability to problem solve and make decisions.

  • Requires the ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
