About the Role & Program
The ESPN Sports Marketing team is a centralized group of strategic brand & content marketers. We lead campaign & media strategy, spend, budgeting and fan engagement, across brands, events, platforms and shows. As part of the team, you will assist in driving fan engagement on platforms such as ESPN and the ESPN App, among many others!
As a Sports Marketing Intern, you will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders across the organization including the creative, research, and programming teams to help drive cross department learnings and uncover opportunities. The approximate dates of this part-time internship are September - December.
What You Will Do
Support the planning, execution, and implementation of various sports marketing strategies and campaigns across the entire NBA on ESPN portfolio, including fall priorities: NBA Tip Off, Inside the NBA and NBA Christmas Day
Observe and support the NBA on ESPN across both broadcast and streaming platform
Support marketing and experiential planning efforts for NBA and Disney cross promotional opportunities
Conduct research of industry trends and support the team with project management, ensuring deadlines are met
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience in sports marketing with a working understanding of core marketing principles
Strong writing and communication skills demonstrated through academic or project‑based work
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proactive, organized self‑starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
Eagerness to think creatively and innovate within marketing strategy and campaign development
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Fundamental understanding of the ESPN portfolio, and the direct-to-consumer sports landscape
NBA knowledge including both a fan and business perspective
Genuine interest of the latest trends, cultural news and content (music, fashion etc. ) and understanding of opportunities within the social media landscape
Appreciation for new technologies and unique storytelling
Junior or Senior year preferred
Major or previous coursework in Marketing, Communications, Sports Media or related major preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship, three full days a week in the New York City office
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
