Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division is looking for a 2nd shift Nurse to support our Mississippi facilities. This position will implement nursing activities for occupational health services and ensures compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
• Provides on-site nursing care for employee safety in the workplace; investigates accidents and inspects any health or safety hazards.
• Ensures the implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations.
• Provides health and safety awareness information to promote overall employee health in the workplace.
• Assists in initiating and coordinating patient care plans for a client company.
• Accredited Registered Nurse (RN) degree, current state Registered Nurse (RN) license, and current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)/First Aid certification
Office Support Tools: Knowledge of commonly used office hardware, software and equipment; ability to use the tools available at the desktop (for example: word processing, email, presentation software, and spreadsheets.)
Level Working Knowledge:
• Describes the benefits and relative strengths of tools for a specific application.
• Demonstrates some advanced functions of at least one product.
• Performs first-level problem resolution before seeking help elsewhere.
• Helps colleagues with desktop tools where necessary.
• Works with all basic office-support products.

• Monitors the activities of medical record keeping to ensure compliance with legal requirements and security measures.
• Creates a medical record system for the health facility to improve the efficiency of data retrieval and processing.
• Designs quality assurance program for medical record keeping to ensure accuracy and completion of data.
• Resolves operational issues regarding the transfer of medical records.
• Coaches others on the proper use of medical record keeping applications.
• Trains others on sharing medical records with other entities.
Clinical Leadership: Knowledge of key business and clinical leadership concepts relevant to the healthcare function; ability to balance business needs with the needs of patients' and patient care priorities.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Gathers data to be used in the evaluation of treatments or technologies.
• Administers treatments in a manner that improves clinical outcomes and reduces risk or cost.
• Collects statistical information to be used in the evaluation of clinical and financial performance.
• Monitors expenditures to ensure the department stays on budget.
• Identifies potential changes that reduce costs without impacting the quality of patient care.
Diagnosis: Knowledge of the techniques, roles, and responsibilities in assessing and diagnosing patients; ability to apply the knowledge appropriately assess and diagnose patients in to diverse situations.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Creates documentation to guide others in the diagnosis procedures.
• Coaches others to help them develop their diagnostic skills.
• Conducts numerous diagnoses covering a wide range of patient conditions.
• Analyzes data from diagnostic tests and orders additional testing if necessary.
• Explains diagnosis to patient and the resulting treatment plan.
• Reviews diagnosis procedure of others and provides feedback.
Medical Devices and Tools: Knowledge of medical devices and tools; ability to use medical devices and tools in order to evaluate and treat patients.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Uses less common devices and tools in the treatment of serious illnesses and injuries.
• Works with all available medical devices and tools in treatment of ER patients.
• Uses medical devices and tools to complete complex procedures, surgeries, and tests.
• Decides when devices and tools need to be replaced and makes orders or notifies appropriate staff.
• Provides guidance and instruction for junior staff members on the use of devices and tools.
• Reviews devices and tool use for safety procedure violations and recommends ways to reduce errors.
Nursing Assessment and Care - HNU: Knowledge of the policies and activities regarding nursing assessment and care; ability to assess patients' nursing care needs, develop and implement a nursing care plan, monitor progress and make adjustments as necessary.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Trains others to counsel patients and family members on condition and selected treatment plan.
• Shares experiences with developing and implementing nursing care plans for many and diverse patients.
• Provides insight into alternative pain management therapies and associated nursing considerations.
• Consults on defining expected outcomes for new and high-risk disorders and developing associated strategies.
• Discusses cases where actual outcomes differed from expectations and lessons learned.
• Compares and contrasts different interventions, potential outcomes and associated risks and benefits.
Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) Compliance: Knowledge of regulations and standards regarding the occupational safety and health of personnel working within an organization; ability to apply relevant regulations and standards to daily work activities.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Oversees compliance with OSHS regulations in various work activities and environments.
• Coaches more junior colleagues on OSHS guidelines that will affect their daily work activities.
• Recommends preventive actions to handle potential risks that may occur in work procedures.
• Provides insights to optimize the effectiveness of various occupational safety protection methods.
• Coordinates all major regulatory issues regarding OSHS safety management.
• Investigates and mitigates situations with potential regulatory implications when working with hazardous materials.
