About the Role

We have a rare opportunity for a highly engaged, passionate and forward-thinking HSE Business Partner to drive a proactive safety culture and support operational leaders at our Ashburton and Christchurch manufacturing and distribution sites.


You will join a supportive established team where you will be hands‑on in this high visibility role, focused on building capability, uplifting safety behaviours, and ensuring strong compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
 

What You’ll Do

  • Champion leader led safety and engage with people leaders across the shop floor and across all shifts (24/5).

  • Conduct and support risk assessments, hazard reviews and safety improvement initiatives.

  • Provide guidance & support to assist in driving key Risk Programs against Global HSE Standards & Green Pathways Program

  • Deliver mandatory and compliance training, including development of engaging HSE content.

  • Support internal and external audits, ISO14001 activities and environmental compliance.

  • Guide our line leaders through incident investigations (root cause / ICAM) and support the implementation of corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate HSE reporting through our key systems, Cority and Mango, providing insights for safety decision-making.

  • Assist with return‑to‑work and rehabilitation practices, when required.

  • Support and monitor contractor management, inductions and compliance assurance.

  • Build strong, trust‑based relationships across all levels of the site to influence safe behaviours and staff wellbeing.
     

About You

  • You will have relevant Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent NEBOSH

  • 5-10 years’ experience in a H&S position in a manufacturing or similar environment

  • Strong capability in risk management, behavioral‑based safety with an understanding of best practice wellbeing initiatives.

  • Skilled with HSE management systems and risk programs (Cority and Mango, preferred but not essential).

  • Organised with excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to build strong relationships to partner with key stakeholders.

  • Are approachable, collaborative, positive with a can do attitude, and able to actively listen to resolve conflict, as well support, encourage, motivate and direct employees re HSE issues.

  • ICAM or similar incident investigation training (desirable).

  • A previous background working with ISO 14001 would be advantageous, including an auditing certification.

  • Experience in the delivery of HSE training.

  • New Zealand citizen or Permanent resident with a valid Driver’s Licence.
