What you'll do...

Walmart Specialty Pharmacy is a one-off business unit within Walmart; specialized in the delivery of low/limited distributed pharmaceuticals to patients throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Unlike a traditional or retail pharmacy, Specialty Pharmacy manages and distributes life sustaining medicines to patients with extremely challenging illnesses. We are predominately a patient contact center, but also operate a fully functional pharmacy with an entire team of pharmacy professionals. While we are not patient facing, we are fully engaged with our customers, patients, and medical practitioners throughout the country.

We are hiring a Full-time, Staff Nurse for our Specialty Pharmacy team in Orlando, Florida. This position will start as working onsite and then will convert to hybrid based on business needs. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4-days a week, 10-hour shift, from 8:30am to 7:00pm

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Multi State Registered Nurse Licensure

  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Job Duties Include:

  • Supports pharmacy accreditation by working independently and collaboratively within the pharmacy to deliver elements of the Patient Management Program; providing injection training and education to patients new to injectable therapies; promoting medication use and disposal according to manufacturer instructions and company policies and procedures; assisting with patient-reported concerns related to medication administration; evaluating patient administration techniques as needed.

  • Performs telephonic nursing support to evaluate patient health status and quality of life at intervals based on treatment guidelines, therapy protocols, and patient requests by conducting patient evaluations in a manner consistent with applicable laws and regulations (for example, scope-of-practice requirements); calling patients to encourage adherence to medications and resolve medication-related issues; identifying and communicating potential patient health issues; collecting drug and disease information from patients; communicating and reviewing new medication instructions with patients; and advising patients of side effects, dosage, storage, and administration of medications according to manufacturer instructions.

  • Provides nursing support for specialty pharmacy operations and applies nursing education, training, and experience to the development, execution, and improvement of patient care plans by providing advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.

  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.

  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

  • Ensures new patients or authorized patient representatives receive medication information, new patient packets, training kits, and manufacturer provided product materials in accordance with pharmacy policies and procedures; supporting pharmacy compliance with Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy program requirements; documenting receipt of materials within pharmacy records or as otherwise directed to meet manufacturer requirements.

  • Coordinates with prescribers and home healthcare agencies delivering infusion services to receive initial patient assessments and record updates related to the delivery of care; demonstrating knowledge of infusion techniques and assisting pharmacists with the selection of appropriate infusion related devices and supplies.

The hourly wage range for this position is $22.00-$37.50*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
