Job Description

Position Summary

Rockwell Automation is looking for leaders to manage an engineering team responsible for developing high quality software products with focus on supporting device management in Logix product family.

This Position is for a hands-on technology and team leader to evolve Rockwell's device support strategy and to manage a team of software engineers, working as part of a global product development team.

We are looking for leaders who effectively leverage a diverse set of technical backgrounds and opinions by fostering a team-oriented environment and the use of open and direct communications, honesty and respect. The ideal candidate will also actively seek knowledge of new technologies and development in the configuration management, software quality, and test framework fields.

You will report to the SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MANAGER and have a hybrid schedule working in Pune, India.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the effort to define the scope of the software project and conduct effort estimation through collaboration with firmware and software tech leads; oversee the execution of the project.
  • Instill high performance culture in the team, lead continuous improvement and actively adopt the best engineering practice.
  • Be responsible for developing a world-class software team through competency development and performance management.
  • Ensure development team remains current and abreast of technology advances and promotes their usage in products and processes.
  • Foster a climate of diversity and teamwork, rewarding and recognizing high performance with open, honest communication that supports Rockwell Automation values.
  • Works closely with software engineers in an agile development environment to improve our quality and turn-around time of delivered software.
  • Well versed and hands-on with Add-on Profile (AOP) development.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Education RequirementsBS Electrical Eng., BS Computer Eng., or BS Computer Science required. MS in Engineering desirable.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in software product development environment.
    • Experience in a leadership role in engineering like team lead and/or project Lead.
    • Direct experience with product development using C#, Angular or other web application framework.
    • Proven ability to communicate innovative solutions and complex technical information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
    • Proven ability to work effectively as a leader of a team.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
    • Proven ability to work and coordinate effectively with multiple teams.
    • Direct experience collaborating with local and global technical development teams.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Direct experience with the Industrial Automation industry.
  • A bent toward technology, particularly with respect to next generation software technology.
  • Knowledge and experience with alternative software development best practices.
