Job Summary:


Clinical Specialist of Respiratory Care Services responsible for coordinating all aspects of system Respiratory Care clinical practice through evidence based and best practices within department policy and procedures, clinical documentation and clinical orders. Attendance and participation in system initiatives as they impact Respiratory Care Services and customer service. Performance of this job will also require a strong, close working relationship with the medical staff and respiratory care leadership. Good customer relation, assessment and communication skills are a must for this job.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


People

- Student Affiliation – Discipline Specific Coordinator for GA RC schools: Represents RC at system meetings, maintain student rotation approvals (ACEMAPP), liaison to RC schools and member of their Advisory committees.
- Coordinate with Organizational Learning Professional Respiratory Educator and ClinDoc Principal Trainer for Respiratory Service

- Pulmonary Care Integration Committee meeting coordinator, notetaker and liaison for EPIC projects.
- Coordinate best practice updates and practice for system pulmonary disease educator. Quality and Safety

- Maintain system Respiratory Care Services department policy procedure (Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Diagnostic, Blood Gas Laboratory) with clinical Evidence Base Practices (EBP).

- PolicyTech owner for Respiratory Care Svcs
- Policy Procedure Project Team (PolicyTech)
- Elsevier Representative for Respiratory Care Svcs
- Represent respiratory care services on system committees and initiatives for best practice. (System Operative Invasive Committee, Medication Safety Committee, Medication Use Policy Sub-committee, Quality Safety, and best practices
- System EPIC Subject Matter Expert (SME) -for Respiratory Care Services: ClinDoc- Team lead for system RC documentation and submission to Connect Team inclusive of proper billing codes, productivity assigned (CATs) and TJC regulations are met. Facilitate proper respiratory department education to team leaders COSMC - respiratory representative for respiratory/physician orders and order sets. Review all orders for respiratory care services to include: Willow-medications, procedures, protocols ventilator management for build and CAT assignment Reports – SME for Respiratory Report builds.
- System or facility Respiratory representative for system initiatives for health management projects Financial

- Revenue Management – Annually review CMS/CPT changes for Respiratory, Pulmonary Diagnostic RC Blood Gas Lab charge master updates.
- Coordinate new builds changes with Respiratory Managers/Director and submit to Rev Management/Analytics/Connect Team
- Maintain department budget

Required Minimum Education:


Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC) Required and
Bachelor's Degree B.S. Degree Required and
Master's Degree in Healthcare, Business Preferred or
related field, Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):


Respiratory Care Prof
Basic Life Support
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Advanced Cardiac Life Support

 

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Required Minimum Experience:


Minimum 5 years of RT experience Required and
Minimum 3 years of acute care experience Required and
Minimum 3 years leadership experience Required and
Active member of the AARC LEAN training recommended, Required

Required Minimum Skills:


Demonstrates evidence of positive leadership abilities/interpersonal relationships including team building and problem-solving skills of above average clinical practice.
Strong communication organizational and computer skills.
Computer experience includes working knowledge of MS word, Excel, Power Point.
