Position Requirements:
- Certified as CNA, EMT, paramedic, or ERT with 2~3 yrs. of hospital or pre~hospital patient care experience or acceptance at an accredited medical school or completions of 2~3 years of nursing school clinical rotations or completion of a certified medical assisting program.
- Ability to move / lift patients and push carts, etc.
- Ability to use keyboard, see computer screen.
- CNA, EMT, ERT, MA certification
- Current CPR certification This position requires completion of the age specific competency
- Very heavy lifting: Up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly. May experience unpleasant odors, exposures to blood~borne, air~borne pathogens, and opportunistic pathogens.
- High level of stress due to unpredictable patient volumes and degree of critical services needed.
- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
Accountabilities:
Perform patient care as directed by nursing or medical staff, documenting on the medical record. Achieve and maintain patient care competencies as determined by Emergency Department management. Competencies include:
Ensure an adequate supply of equipment needed for patient care.
Assist with clerical functions such as telephone and order entry, backs~up clerical associates and greeters for breaks and meals.
Transport patients and equipment interdepartmentally.
Ensure that patient care areas, storage rooms, and equipment are clean and maintained.
