Position Summary

Our global Market Access teams are responsible for understanding and satisfying market access, policy, funding, and advocacy requirements in each country. They research and analyze key markets in terms of reimbursement and funding, existing and emerging payer policies, competitive landscape, relevant trends in the healthcare sector, pricing, tendering, contracting strategies, and any potential barriers to providers and patient access.

As Head of Market Access, Policy and Advocacy for Japan and South Korea, you will be an integral part of the APAC market access team and participate in APAC-wide strategy development and execution.  You will have a particular responsibility to support Japan and South Korea to enable more patients to have access to rt-CGM both in terms of currently funded indications and indication expansion.

Areas of accountability include creating and delivering a positive access and advocacy environment for Dexcom technology, leading HTA/guideline submissions, value-based funding programs, involvement in policy development, payer engagement, sitting on local and regional industry bodies, etc. You will work closely with the Regional Access teams to establish appropriate evidence needs, including health economic and RWE data, construct and implement strategies for optimizing reimbursement and product positioning. You will also be responsible for establishing, fostering and leading interactions between Dexcom and government entities while developing programs and activities to support this work.

Reporting to the Director of APAC Access, Policy and Advocacy, you will work closely with and have responsibilities to the General Manager of Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia region and represent Market Access on their leadership team. You will work collaboratively with and have the support of the Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and Integrated Evidence Planning teams to support the delivery of Market Access, Policy and Advocacy objectives.

What makes you successful

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. The successful candidate will have:

  • Education and experience in a relevant field, e.g. Health Insurance, HTA, health policy and, public health.
  • Knowledge of market access for pharmaceutical or medical devices, experience in the diabetes field would be highly preferred
  • Ability to create and execute strategic market access strategies, in line with long-term company goals
  • Design and deliver strategic value communications for payers and HCPs, aligned with value-based care principles to inform decision-making and enhance stakeholder engagement.
  • A strong track record of working in the Japanese market access field
  • Significant experience in working with payer bodies - public and private, resulting in successful reimbursement outcomes
  • Experience in creating and maintaining advocacy networks  
  • Experience in working with policymakers and managing consultants
  • Business/marketing or sales experience and the ability to link this insight to funding and reimbursement objectives
  • Experience of working and contributing within a matrix organization, including global and national Market Access teams.
  • Ability to speak and present effectively before groups of external stakeholders or employees of the organisation.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently, written and spoken in English and Japanese
  • Additional languages such as Korean, would be desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret policy documents and procedure documents 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence   
  • Ability to speak and present effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organisation.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires minimum of 10 years of related experience.

Travel Required

  • 15% - 25%
