40POSITION PURPOSE:
The Director of Quality/Patient Safety/Patient Experience is directly responsible for the quality and performance improvement program (QAPI) for the hospital and clinics as well as the Patient Experience program. The director will foster cross-functional and system-wide relationships beyond the department of quality and patient safety to be successful in a highly multidisciplinary and complex role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Quality/Patient Safety/Patient Experience directs, oversees, plans, coordinates and evaluates a comprehensive program to improve clinical outcomes, enhance value, and minimize patient harm.
Accountable for the supervision, planning, and implementation of activities of the Quality Services department to include; Patient Safety, Performance Improvement, Infection Prevention and Control, Medication Safety Programs, Medical staff Peer review, Medical Staff Library and Cancer Care Program, Patient Experience and Joint Commission compliance.
The Director also represents these functional areas to the organization during medical staff, Board meetings and to outside governing bodies.
Oversees all aspects of the quality program, including quality measurement, external reporting, quality improvement, and high reliability.
Oversees the infection control program and the patient safety program, including incident reporting, root cause analyses, sentinel event reporting, failure mode analyses, systems design, failure modes and effects analysis, and proactive staff training and education.
Drives the organization to improve value, prevent unnecessary readmissions, overuse of testing or procedures, and reduce costs.
Provide quality and safety educational programs at CGH on both a regularly scheduled basis and as needed.
Responsible for maintaining regulatory and accreditation standards for QAPI Program: infection control, medication safety, patient safety, leadership, cancer registry, and performance improvement as well as for Joint Commission.
Responsible for the development and monitoring of budget for the Quality/Patient Safety/Patient Experience Department using organizational goals and objectives to ensure appropriate staff, space, equipment, and other resources.
Meets basic job requirements for all managerial positions at CGH Medical Center.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, or healthcare related area required.
Master’s degree in healthcare related field or business required within three years of hire.
Three years of progressively responsible healthcare experience in managing multiple functions including significant problem-solving experience required.
Knowledge of all aspects of hospital clinical operations, as related to patient safety and quality, as well as experience in infection control and/or regulatory affairs required.
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) required within two years of hire
Certifications in Infection Control and/or Patient Safety preferred.
Significant body of knowledge in performance improvement theory and statistical analysis as well as general body of knowledge in healthcare regulatory standards required.
Experience in facilitating and leading PI teams using quality improvement methodology
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills required.
Computer literacy including operation and software application use required.
Compensation Range
