Job Description:

The Role

Working within a team dynamic, the Self-Directed Brokerage (SDB) Analyst completes daily Investment Execution activities necessary to support the Workplace Investing (WI) product offering. The Financial Operations Financial Reporting Analyst will work independently to complete daily control activities which involve various monetary and non-monetary processes necessary to support the WI 401k and Self-Directed Brokerage product offerings. The Financial Reporting Analyst must understand in detail both how and why functions are performed and how they relate to the overall service structure.

As an Analyst, you are a key driver in ensuring that SDB plan processing has occurred correctly and within defined plan and product rules. You will have the ability to handle an agile workload, supporting various team processes throughout the day. As part of a small team, you will be extremely valuable in working with internal business partners to resolve any discrepancies and play a key role in delivering plan year end information and audit support. The position is also valuable, in that, the Analyst provides consultative assistance to business segments across Fidelity to minimize risk and exposure.

This position will have a shift of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST, Monday - Friday.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, preferably in Accounting or Finance with 5 plus years of experience or a master’s degree.
  • Expertise of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Strong analytical ability with 5 plus years in a professional/technical discipline desired
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliation concepts, theories and practices
  • Coordinates projects/work activities with well-defined scope and impact
  • Complex problem-solving ability
  • Makes decisions within defined context with minimal oversight or guidance
  • Provides direction and ownership of project initiatives and team processes
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements to ensure optimized resource allocation across a team
  • Expertise in at least one Financial Operations’ (FinOps) team desired.
  • VBA Programming experience desired
  • The ability to take initiative and highly motivated to complete tasks as required
  • An eagerness to participate in a team environment, shifting assignments where needed to meet department controls

The Team

BrokerageLink/Self-Directed Brokerage gives participants the option of maintaining a Fidelity brokerage account within their 401(k) plan thereby allowing them to invest in securities that are not offered on the Fidelity recordkeeping system. If a plan offers BrokerageLink, participants may invest in eligible securities according to rules defined by the plan.

This role supports the Investment Execution and Oversight team within the Financial Operations organization. The Self-Directed Brokerage Team is responsible for ensuring that all SDB plan activity is fully reconciled and accurate for plan year end reporting requirements as well as providing key information related to audit support. The team members also play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with internal business partners and collaborating with them when appropriate to ensure that all standard methodologies are followed.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
