Job Summary

The Director - Program Management is accountable for enterprise IT delivery portfolio planning and decisioning at SHI. This role assumes ownership after initiatives are approved and chartered, translating charters into integrated delivery roadmaps, yearly plans, and inyear prioritization decisions that reflect enterprise capacity and constraints.

This role serves as the owner of portfolio strategy, outcomes, and trade‑offs, translating enterprise objectives into integrated programs and product roadmaps. The Senior Director partners closely with executive stakeholders and the PMO to ensure the organization is focused on the right initiatives, in the right order, with clear accountability for results. Success in this role requires strong business judgment, the ability to lead through influence, and experience operating at the intersection of strategy, execution, and product delivery.

This role is required to report to the Austin, TX or Somerset, NJ location on a hybrid basis.

Role Description

  • Own the IT delivery portfolio post charter, ensuring approved initiatives are realistically planned, sequenced, and coordinated  

  • Lead annual enterprise delivery planning, producing integrated, capacity aware roadmaps aligned to approved charters  

  • Drive in year portfolio decisioning as new charters enter or delivery constraints change  

  • Translate approved charters into delivery ready plans without redefining scope, funding, or business value  

  • Lead portfolio level tradeoff discussions across timing, capacity, dependencies, and funding, enabling informed executive decisions  

  • Assists in resolving conflicts related to scope, priority, and resource allocation across initiatives 

  • Act as a trusted partner to senior leadership on portfolio decisions, tradeoffs, and investment choices 

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of Program Managers accountable for consistent portfolio planning and decision insight  

  • Ensure strong collaboration with business, transformation, finance, architecture, and delivery leaders to maintain portfolio alignment  

  • Partner closely with the PMO to align portfolio planning, governance standards, and reporting practices  

  • Ensure portfolio data (plans, dependencies, risks) is accurate, transparent, and decision ready for executive leadership  

  • Ensure clean hand off from portfolio planning to execution teams while maintaining portfolio level visibility

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) 

  • 10+ years of progressive program and/or project management experience, including leadership of complex, enterprisewide initiatives 

  • Demonstrated experience leading large, crossfunctional program and/or product portfolios 

  • Strong expertise in program management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models 

  • Proven success engaging senior stakeholders and leading through influence in matrixed environments 

  • Extensive experience leading enterprise transformation initiatives and managing large, complex Information Technology programs 

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into executable portfolios and roadmaps 

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills 

  • Strong strategic planning, analytical, and problemsolving capabilities 

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) 

  • Experience working within Information Technology organizations with formal PMO structures 

  • Experience leading both Information Technology program and product disciplines 

  • Background in digital transformation, operatingmodel change, or largescale enterprise initiatives 

  • PMP, PgMP, PMI, or equivalent certification 

  • Proven experience leading major Information Technology implementations such as ERP, cloud migrations, core systems modernization, or enterprise platform transformations. 

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
