Our Mission at Scythe

Humanity has lost touch with nature - we’ve traded dirt and trees for asphalt, and we rely on loud, polluting, gas-powered machines to care for our limited natural spaces.

Scythe is forging a new future by building intelligent, all-electric machines that unlock a new superpower: the ability to care for the outdoors pollution-free at enormous scale. From today’s first steps in landscape maintenance to full-fledged re-terraforming in the future, Scythe is pioneering autonomous machinery that supports the ingenuity of humans, multiplying our power to nurture our planet.

At Scythe, you’ll work with a team of world-class experts in everything from computer vision to mechanical engineering, pushing the limits of possibility and growing by overcoming hurdles along the way.

The world needs what we’re building—come join us in making it a reality.

Run-In Support Technician at Scythe

“Run-In” is the process of operating our commercial electric autonomous mowers for several hours to measure hardware reliability before deploying to customers across the US.

We're looking for a Run-In Support Technician to help bring the future of autonomous outdoor equipment to life. This person will have the responsibility of operating our autonomous commercial lawn mowers for an extended period of time in an outdoor environment to validate vehicle reliability. We're looking for a detailed-oriented Technician to be very hands-on: operating the vehicle both manually and autonomously in the field to work directly with the robot.

A Run-In Support Technician will work alongside teammates across Scythe to execute the operation of robots for extended periods of time to validate reliability before turning these vehicles over to our commercial customers. A successful technician will always be ready to get their hands dirty, to thrive in a fast-paced outdoor environment and to be a collaborative, low-ego teammate who helps Scythe realize its big mission.

What you’ll do at Scythe

  • Perform daily outdoor robot testing to quickly learn about the quality and performance of our machine as it relates to the reliability of the machine
  • Execute manual tests and communicate results
  • Perform manual mowing operations when required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to run disciplined tests daily
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments safely and effectively
  • Safe use of various hand and power tools
  • Experience driving a truck towing a trailer up to 20,000lbs.
  • Experience with proper cargo loading and tie-down practices
  • Strong verbal communication skills and experience communicating in person with interdisciplinary team members (engineers, peers, etc).

This is a 1st shift (8:30am – 4:00pm) full time (40 hrs./wk.) seasonal temporary position expected to last until early Spring 2025. The ideal candidate is willing to work overtime/weekends when needed, as well as be flexible with working hours to allow for weather conditions.

  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have a clean driving record
  • Candidates must be able to pass Florida Medical DOT evaluation
  • Candidates will need reliable daily transportation to and from our Fort Pierce, FL Office as well as our local testing sites, generally located within a 50 mile radius of Fort Pierce
