Job Description:

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • 4-year College Degree in Business Administration or related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English in a professional manner

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills 

  • Experience managing third-party logistics operations and projects 
  • Experience with the automotive industry, manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) familiarity 
  • Data analysis experience 
  • Project management experience  
  • Fluency in Spanish or Japanese  

Operations

  • Utilize QCDD (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development) to run operations
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand company needs
  • Oversee daily transportation operations, including route planning, scheduling, execution, and approve/reject shipment bookings
  • Collaborate with plants, freight forwarders, carriers, local shuttles, and warehouses to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries
  • Communicate any major changes to transit times
  • Provide tracking information and expedite freight when needed
  • Coordinate and file damaged freight claims
  • Stay informed through market research (weather, political, surcharges, port delays, etc.) and inform internal stakeholders of impact

Reporting & Metrics

  • Track and report container efficiencies, shipment updates, shipment exceptions, expedite and carrier performance reports
  • Provide weekly tracking and shipment exceptions updates to stakeholders
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Create Quarterly Business Review for stakeholder and upper management review
  • Process month-end accrual report
  • Assist with annual budget planning

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations within area of responsibility  
  • Ensure compliance with warehouses, transportation-related administrative policies, safety rules, and industry standards
  • Evaluate risk and compliance for all transportation regulations
  • Uphold Custom and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) status
  • Abide by all internal compliance requirements

Audit & Payment

  • Process payments for service providers and transportation carriers
  • Code all payments for accounting purposes
  • Address any invoicing or payment issue for service providers and transportation carriers

Maintain and Development

  • Negotiate and secure contracts new contracts or amend existing with third-party logistics providers
  • Manage the overall relationships and service level agreements with our third-party logistics providers
  • Utilize data to identify gaps and implement corrections
  • Provide stakeholders with solutions to maximize route and container efficiencies, and cost savings
  • Engage with other Hitachi Astemo sites to create synergies and ensure best practices are utilized for Hitachi Astemo Indiana, Inc.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs and current industry software to ensure work efficiency

Work Environment – Travel, Noise, Smells, Quiet, Indoors or Outdoors, etc.

  • Requires up to 20% travel
