PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Director, Planning is responsible for directing the planning of clinical healthcare spaces across multiple campuses in the Jefferson Enterprise. The Director will work in collaboration with leadership to evaluate and conceptually plan projects in alignment with the overall framework for services and space needs across the Enterprise. The Director will be responsible for healthcare planning at building-, campus-, and regional-scales to ensure that space functions are well organized to meet strategic goals. The Director of Planning will be responsible for management and coordination of planning functions for both internal and external staff while coordinating with PDC directors, project managers, real estate, facilities operations, strategy, and finance, among others.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops space planning scenarios for relocations, expansions, renovations, and new buildings, including the sequencing of related work and moves. Prepares budgets, schedules, and graphical representations of migration plans in support of scenarios in coordination with PDC directors.
  • Develops program requirements, space plans, furniture, and/or equipment plans for discreet projects as assigned that can be used to launch projects. Directly develops space plans to suit user needs and requirements.
  • Directly develops space plans to suit user needs and requirements.
  • Engages and directs outside consultants when the project scale or complexity requires
  • Develops programming and test fits that can be used as a basis to launch projects
  • Manages projects as assigned depending on complexity and workload, including management of external consultants and contractors as applicable.
  • Works closely with, Real Estate, Program Management Office, and Facilities.
  • Mentors junior team members for professional development and potential internal promotion.

COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  • knowledge of Building Codes and FGI Guidelines and healthcare space planning
  • Good communication skills with our partners in corporate, healthcare and academic pillars
  • Skilled is the use of CAD, Revit or other design software to represent ideas
  • Develop conceptual project budgets and schedules, in coordination with PDC directors and project managers
  • Communicate clearly to leaders and other colleagues inside Enterprise Asset Management. Work closely with Strategy, Real Estate, Program Management Office, and Facilities.
  • Travel to multiple campuses as needed to evaluate project studies and meeting with administrative, academic or clinical Jefferson team members.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson values.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field is required.  Must have experience with the planning and design of healthcare and clinical spaces.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

Professional registration or licensure (RA, PE) is preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 10 years of related experience in healthcare and / or higher education with medical planning experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Demonstrated leadership capabilities.  Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and e-Builder required.
