Position Overview:
TD Bank’s Legal Department is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Governance & Control Analyst to join our Governance and Control team. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about governance, risk management, and compliance, and who are eager to apply their analytical skills in a critical area within the bank. As an Analyst, you will support the implementation of governance frameworks and risk controls that ensure the Legal department operates with integrity, transparency, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
▪ Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on governance and control data, providing insights that help drive informed decision-making within the Legal department.
▪ Risk Monitoring: Assist in monitoring and assessing risks associated with legal processes, ensuring that controls are in place to mitigate potential issues.
▪ Compliance Support: Collaborate with the Compliance and Legal teams to ensure that all departmental activities align with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
▪ Control Testing: Conduct regular testing of internal controls to assess their effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and assisting in the development of remediation plans.
▪ Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of governance and control processes, policies, and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible.
▪ Incident Analysis: Support the investigation of governance and control incidents, contributing to root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions.
▪ Stakeholder Communication: Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, clearly communicating governance and control findings, risks, and recommendations.
▪ Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance governance and control processes, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal department.
▪ Training and Awareness: Assist in the development and delivery of training materials aimed at increasing awareness of governance and control practices within the Legal department.
This position offers a unique opportunity for non-lawyers to immerse themselves in the legal domain while leveraging their expertise in governance and control. As a Senior Analyst in the Legal department, you will:

Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
▪ 3+ years of experience in governance, risk management, compliance, or a related field, preferably within a financial institution.
▪ Strong analytical skills, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
▪ Familiarity with governance frameworks, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
▪ Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
▪ Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, SQL, or similar.
▪ Experience in legal or regulatory environments is an asset, but not required.
▪ Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
