The Manager Operations GF leads a team responsible for operational activities ensuring effectiveness and efficiency throughout the entire process. Ensures team achieves productivity, quality, and world-class service objectives by aligning resources and defining role expectations. Measures, monitors, and communicates results. Manages performance and supports employee growth and development. Has significant responsibility to continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, including service and cycle time optimization to meet business goals and efficiency targets. May supervise a combination of individual contributors and/or other operations leaders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

Leadership and Talent Management:

  • Set employee expectations and manage performance for productivity, quality, and service
  • Support team development through coaching, feedback, and problem-solving
  • Communicate objectives and performance metrics clearly
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage talent in partnership with Talent Acquisition
  • Promote a culture of open communication, inclusivity, and continuous improvement
  • Manage compensation and merit programs based on performance

Business and Operations Leadership:

  • Align execution strategy with business goals
  • Focus on efficiency, quality, and cost-effective service levels
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes to remove friction and enhance performance.
  • Ensure team compliance with SOPs and company policies
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to address service levels, operations updates, and business needs
  • Leverage technology and tools to improve operational efficiency and support system changes
  • Stay informed on business needs, customer expectations, and contribute to business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years Global Forwarding operations experience
  • 2+ years leading and managing teams
  • Ability to travel (based on location)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous customer service experience (especially in a call center or operations)
  • Familiarity with C.H. Robinson services and processes
  • Experience with operational excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience managing financial and operational metrics
  • Track record of process improvement and change management
