At Freddie Mac, our mission of Making Home Possible is what motivates us, and it’s at the core of everything we do. Since our charter in 1970, we have made home possible for more than 90 million families across the country. Join an organization where your work contributes to a greater purpose.

Position Overview:

Freddie Mac’s Single-Family (SF) division is looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team and manage the monthly loan valuation process within the Single-Family CFO organization. This involves overseeing a $3 trillion Single-Family loan portfolio. Responsibilities include acquiring whole loan prices and market insights from dealers, and investigating any pricing that falls outside specified thresholds. You will execute the process to determine the TBA prices and the fair value of guarantee assets and liabilities, analyze the monthly fair value results, and conduct in-depth research on any variances from control executions, documenting your findings. The Single-Family loan valuation team is tasked with assigning fair values to the Single-Family loan portfolio as of the balance sheet date.

We invite you to apply today and support our mission to #makehomepossible!

Our Impact:

The Single-Family CFO Pricing and Valuation team is responsible for generating the fair value of $3 trillion in mortgage loans, which are disclosed in our financial statements and used by various downstream teams for mark-to-market or reporting/analytic purposes. The team collaborates closely with the Enterprise Risk Management team to ensure the valuation methodology is appropriate and that the fair values generated are reasonable. Given that the Pricing and Valuation process is supported by numerous End User Computing Systems (EUCs), applications, and models, the team often works with IT and Model teams to assess the impact of any changes made to models or upstream applications.

Your Impact:

In this role, you will execute the dealer pricing process, which includes obtaining whole loan prices and market insights from dealers, investigating pricing outside of established thresholds, and assessing dealer performance. You will also manage the fair value process for guaranteed assets and obligations, perform flux analysis, identify issues, and escalate them to the lead or higher level for resolution. Documenting research conclusions, understanding changes in upstream systems to support updates to our EUCs/programs, and facilitating appropriate handoffs are also part of the role. You will lead effective working relationships with internal business partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant experience.
  • 5-7 years of related valuation, reporting, or financial analysis experience.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Access.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to produce results in a challenging environment with limited structure and guidance.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting for mortgages or default loans.
  • Excellent organizational skills and understanding of standard methodologies.
  • Skills in SQL, SAS, or Python.
  • Experience in the secondary mortgage market is preferred.

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Stay motivated and eager to learn.
  • Maintain a positive, can-do attitude while resolving a wide range of complex issues with innovative, thorough, and practical solutions.
  • Work independently with limited direction.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for enhancements and improve efficiency.
