Summary of Job Duties:

This UAMS Department of Orthopaedic Pediatric Hourly Physician Assistant Professor position will cover call at ACNW in Northwest Arkansas and will specialize in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in children. This person will be the best-trained and most experienced doctor to properly evaluate and treat musculoskeletal (bone, joint, or muscle) problems in a child who is still growing. This includes newborn babies through teenagers. Pediatric orthopaedic surgeons diagnose, treat, and manage children's musculoskeletal problems, such as limb and spine deformities noted at birth or later in life (clubfoot, scoliosis, limb length differences); ait abnormalities (limping); broken bones; bone or joint infections and tumors. Pediatric orthopaedists have extensive and comprehensive training, and as well as expertise in dealing with children and treating their musculoskeletal problems. The candidate will need to be committed to being part of an internationally recognized organization that is focused on providing the best care for patients through a strong interdisciplinary approach.


Qualifications:

  • Valid state medical license as MD or DO
  • Must be board certified or board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon
  • Completed a one-year pediatric orthopedic fellowship

  • Supervises department staff by monitoring activities and productivity daily and takes appropriate action to insure staff consistently meets performance standards.
  • Seeks out continuing education of regulatory changes and industry standards; ensures information is provided to staff timely and based on workload. 
  • Documents personnel issues and promotes a balanced a conductive work 
  • environment.
  • Establishes and maintains performance standards for productivity, quality and compliance.
  • Implements process improvement and reports results.
