Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure to ensure smooth and safe operations. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with a strong mechanical and electrical background who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test machinery and equipment to identify issues and ensure proper operation.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems by listening for irregular sounds and consulting with team members.
- Dismantle and repair defective machines; install new or refurbished components.
- Perform rigging and installation of industrial machinery.
- Clean and lubricate machine parts including shafts, bearings, and gears.
- Install and repair electrical systems (3-phase and single-phase), transformers, and electronic components.
- Assemble, install, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valves, gauges, and regulators.
- Maintain and repair facility structures and fixtures.
- Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and machine controllers.
- Operate machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill, milling machine) to fabricate or repair parts.
- Perform welding and torch cutting as needed.
- Fabricate and repair wooden structures such as counters and partitions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics (hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical).
- Operate and maintain forklifts and other maintenance-related equipment (e.g., man lifts, snow plows, golf carts).
- Maintain and repair hand tools and power tools.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and monthly inspections of cranes and hoists.
- Report work-related injuries and near misses promptly.
- Follow all safety and environmental regulations and wear required PPE.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions within the facility.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical systems, mechanical repairs, welding, or general maintenance.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and technical manuals.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Proficient in basic math and measurement tools (e.g., tape measure, micrometer, amp probe).
- Ability to solve problems and interpret technical instructions and diagrams.
- Basic PC knowledge preferred; no advanced computer skills required.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Forklift license required (must be obtained within 3 months of hire).
- Certifications in electrical work, welding, or other related fields are preferred.
Work Environment:
- Moderate noise levels typical of an industrial setting.
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, tools, and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands for handling tools and equipment.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, or crouch.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Visual requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
