A Brief Overview:
The purpose of the job is to provide skilled front office and surgical scheduling/coordination for the Ophthalmology physician practice including, but not limited to LASIK, PRK, PTK, cataract, Premium IOL's, glaucoma, retina, strabismus, and other surgeries. Assists in supporting the department Director, Managers and Supervisors with a wide scope of projects and tasks as assigned.

Ongoing growth and development from participation in events such as workshops, in-service programs and departmental meetings
Provides care based on physical, psychological, educational, and related criteria, appropriate to the age and type of the patients/customers served in their area. (For employees with regular clinical contact with patients)
Works with Clinical Manager on assignments and schedules of technical staff utilizing equipment and resources to ensure safe and technically optimal exams.
Ensures the quality and appropriateness of recordings based on clinical history and consults with clinical directors and physicians when necessary.
Ensures that all patients are adequately and courteously informed of the nature of procedures and their questions are answered appropriately.
Promotes a pleasant and productive work environment, consults with Administrative Director regarding any personnel problems.
Teaches and orients staff and students to ensure staff competency in performing optimal studies on patients of all age groups.
Evaluates work performance of staff through established personnel policies, procedures and job responsibilities.
Maintains thorough knowledge of equipment including computers.
Ensures proper maintenance of equipment by trouble shooting, problem solving, arranging for repairs and preventative maintenance of all equipment
Supervises Performance Improvement and patient safety initiatives
Monitors record keeping to ensure compliance with department policies, assists with preparation of quality control initiatives and supervises them.
Develops documents, monitors and reports all Performance Improvement measures and comprises reports quarterly and annually.
Assists in preparing fiscal budget.
Participates in long term and short term planning.
Provides ongoing growth and development of technical staff through in-service programs, meetings and training sessions.
Maintains and orders all supplies needed for the department.
Assists Administrative and Clinical Directors with the employee review process.
Coordinates and maintains employee time record (scheduled and paid time off, vacation schedules, and on call rotations)
Performs all other department related duties as needed


 
What you will need:
High School Required Or
Bachelors Degree Preferred Or
Masters Degree Preferred
3 Years Three to five (5-10) years of experience as a Registered Neurophysiology Tech in a teaching hospital. Registration (minimally in EEG and IOM) by ABRET. NCV certification preferred. Supervisory and administrative experience preferred.
Must have college level neuroanatomy knowledge.
Competency in medical terminology. Must be able to perform all neurophysiology lab testing modalities. Must be able to work independently, recognize problems and take the initiative to resolve them Must be able to work well with external customers of all ages (birth to geriatric), Must act as a team builder by demonstrating leadership and handling change effectively Must be a model for Always Behaviors by treating all external customers (patients, families and visitors) and internal customers (immediate colleagues, physicians, administration, medical and administrative director, medical, clinical and ancillary staff throughout the organization) Must have strong communication, written and verbal skills.
High School Diploma . Graduation from an accredited neurophysiology program. Bachelor's degree preferred. Master's degree preferred. Required And
Must be registered in either EEG or EP. Certification as CNIM is desirable by the end of 2nd year of employment. CPR Certification is required. Required
