Due to an exciting win supporting UK Defence customers, we have a requirement for a security-cleared Application Engineer to focus on the integration, configuration and adaptation of the IBL Visual Weather product into a key critical system. This role will be based in the UK working at our Farnborough site, remotely and also with some travel to customer locations.

Your Role and Responsibilities;
As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a Application Engineer with highly desirable experience in Visual Weather to support the integration and transition into live of a new IT application and infrastructure solution providing support to a critical operational end user.
The Application Engineer will provide input and expertise to maintain alignments with best practices and recommending Application integration process improvements. They will also support the development of junior engineers in the program/team.
This individual is expected to create an environment for innovation and technical mentoring. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.
The successful individual will be expected to:
Provide DevOps skills engaging in a scrum team being an active part of its delivery and continuous improvement
Develop, test, document and deploy elements of the solution and ensure KT is appropriate for the movement into service
Work with delivery teams to design and implement and integrate modern, scalable products using a range of existing, new and emerging technologies
Collaborate with the wider teams seeking to learn and improve with every sprint
Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context of the delivery
Work with Product Owners to understand user needs for workflows and UX configurations
WHO DO WE NEED?
We are looking for someone with excellent organisation communication and development skills who has:
Understanding and experience of the importance of secure by design and delivering within a secure environment
Experience in complex application deployment and integration in both Cloud and On-Prem environments
An understanding of DevOps tooling including Ansible, Jenkins and other pipeline technologies
Good knowledge & experience with development in, and software engineering best practices for:
Java, Python, JSON, Javascript, APIs, Web Services
Good experience of containerisation concepts and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
Experience of system integration methodologies and data visualisation
Good knowledge & experience of API development and management, including rigorous test and assurance processes
Experience and knowledge of SonarQube, JFrog, NiFi, Tomcat, Jira, Junit, Jmeter, Bitbucket, Nexus, Trivy, , Gitlab, and Bamboo
Good general knowledge of Networking Technologies including load balancing and firewalls
Highly Desirable: Experience with Visual Weather software
Desirable: Experience with OGC Web Serivces
Desirable: Experience with Thin Client Application delivery
Desirable: Working within a Scaled Agile Frameowrk (SAFe) delivery approach
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), APIs and Data Distribution Protocols
Good analytical and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
