The Internal Advisory Consultant (IAC) will be responsible for driving the sales of FS Investments’ products with Financial Advisors within an assigned region in the US, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver client needs. As part of Sales and Distribution team, IACs are dedicated to increasing the sales and awareness of FS Investments products including mutual funds, REITs, and Interval Funds. The IACS accomplish this through telephone presentations, virtual meetings, and email correspondence. This position, working collaboratively with other members of the team, is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to expand FS Investments’ coverage within the respective territory. 

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Initiate and proactively build relationships with financial advisors, divisional and regional representatives, research analysts and investment professionals through proactive telephone calls and contact follow up
  • Portray a strong understanding of the capital markets, and securities industry and demonstrate proficiency of alternative investments
  • Effectively profile advisors to understand their practice, clients, and investment process, coordinating the logistics involved in managing the sales process and pipeline
  • Learn, understand and professionally represent all strategies and products across multiple channels and platforms while keeping up-to-date with competing strategies and products
  • Identify and pursue leads generated from extensive research, referrals, ad campaigns and regional canvassing. Consistently seeks referrals from top producer lists to find new advisor relationships
  • Demonstrate organized, efficient and effective territory management and sales skills on a consistent basis
  • Operate within the firms CRM system at an expert level and maintains database for accurate and current information
  • Provide support and direction to more junior members on the sales team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • FINRA Series 7 required. Series 63 must be obtained within 3 months of employment
  • Three plus (3+) years of financial services experience, with at least two years in a Sales
    Consultant capacity preferred
  • Knowledge of multiple distribution channels a plus, including RIAs and wirehouses
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Salesforce, and Webinar skills required
