Join us as a Sanctions Lead

  • We’ll be looking for you to coordinate and promote the development of sanctions risk management initiatives and activities within our second line of defence (2LOD) Sanctions team and across the organisation
  • Reporting into the Head of Sanctions and working with our other Sanctions Lead, you’ll lead and evolve our Sanctions framework, policy, and controls through a variety of initiatives
  • You’ll be working with key stakeholders across the business, championing improvement and enhancement of sanctions processes and controls
  • You’ll support, guide and mentor managers in the team on policy and framework considerations, applying subject matter expert (SME) sanctions knowledge and ensuring a comprehensive risk assessment

What you'll do

As a Sanctions Lead in Financial Crime Risk, you’ll be providing sanctions expertise to stakeholders across the Group, leading and supporting the development of the NatWest Sanctions Framework.

The role requires external regulatory and stakeholder engagement on sanctions initiatives within the wider industry.

Some day-to-day activities include, but not limited to:

  • Supporting stakeholders by providing advice and support on policy matters
  • Leading the organisations engagement with regulators and industry bodies
  • Collaboration with specialists’ teams and key stakeholders such as legal
  • Managing and supporting policy updates, sanctions training and communicating with senior stakeholders

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for a sanctions risk management SME, ideally with 2LOD experience. You'll also need experience of interpreting EU, UK and OFAC sanctions regulations.

Additionally, you’ll need:

  • Experience with regulatory and industry body engagement
  • A keen interest and understanding of global events that influence the geopolitical environment
  • Organisational awareness including working knowledge of risks, products, processes and controls
  • Experience of managing a range of different sanctions tasks, stakeholders, including senior management
  • Strong written and oral communication with a keen eye for detail
