Responsibilities:
Develops and conducts college readiness workshops and services for pre-college participants, including GED students, college dropouts, displaced workers, and high school students.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with representatives from outreach sites, area secondary and postsecondary schools, and community agencies that support the daily delivery of services to participants.
Identifies and advises students on postsecondary planning, career, and financial issues.
Maintains accurate records of interactions with students and prepares reports related to assigned Essential participants, including entering data collected through the intake process in BLUMEN or other software application programs, maintaining supporting documentation, and completing annual file reviews.
Works with program participants to complete individual educational and support plans for tutoring.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and prior experience tutoring, instructional and/or advising students to include monitoring of participants' academic progress and career development and instructing in various learning styles are required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to instruct various learning styles.
Effective communication skills, particularly with diverse populations.
Ability to build a good rapport with a variety of constituents over a period of time.
Ability to listen carefully and follow instructions.
Ability to create and present engaging, thought-provoking presentations, workshops, etc.
Ability to learn easily and disseminate detailed information clearly.
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively with others in a team setting.
Ability to pay close attention to details.
Ability to lift >25 lbs overhead with or without reasonable accommodation.
Willingness to work on weekends, mornings, and evenings.
Ability to travel, which is a requirement of the position.
