The Strategic Services Operations Specialist will have experience or the ability to be trained as an operations expert in: International Air / Ocean Import and Exports, Domestic Expedited Ground & Air Freight, and White Glove Services. This position will assist in the day to day operations activity of quoting and routing specialty freight services, customer service, including tracking and tracing all shipments. This position will support the sales team to close new business. This position will report to the Director of Strategic Services.
Responsibilities:
- Clear understanding of IEL’s sales process as well as regulations and processes for air, ocean and expedite freight.
- Work with the Director of Strategic Services to help support the strategic vision of the department.
- Respond to customer inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Work with different internal departments to ensure a cohesive and collective working relationship to achieve the end goal of servicing the customer and growing sales.
- Demonstrate subject matter knowledge of all solutions provided by the Company in all customer and prospective customer interactions.
- Respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Making check calls on all shipments and updating internal and external systems accurately.
- Build partnerships with Freight Forwarding carriers, including the negotiations of rates, tariffs, and support initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 5 years of transportation operations experience
- 5+ years of demonstrated customer service experience
- Excellent communication, both written and oral.
- Ability to facilitate training and speak to peers and groups
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and pivot plans as needed.
- Willingness to collaborate as a team and share ideas.
Preferred:
- Direct experience with Freight Forwarding operations or sales
- Experience with LTL, FTL, International or Warehousing
