Job Summary
As a Security -Senior Lead, you play a critical role in ensuring that Telstra provides an industry leading secure ecosystem for employees and customers. You use your strong people skills, business experience and extensive technical expertise in cyber security and technology to lead a highly skilled team of security specialists to identify, anticipate, respond to and resolve security threats.We’re seeking a Chapter Lead – Security Architecture to guide a team of 8–12 Security Architects and drive excellence in secure architecture design and consultation. The role comprises approximately 30% of people leadership and 70% of technical delivery in security architecture missions.
This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic influence with hands-on technical leadership, helping shape the future of security architecture across the organisation.
Leadership:
Lead and develop a high-performing team of Security Architects.
Manage contractor engagement and resource allocation.
Ensure alignment with Telstra Cyber Assurance processes and frameworks.
Contribute to broader Cyber Assurance and Security Enablement standards.
Technical:
Collaborate with stakeholders to define and operationalise security controls within architectures.
Assess emerging security capabilities and align them with business objectives.
Define reusable assets such as standardised security requirements and solution patterns.
Contribute to security strategy, standards, and frameworks.
Document security solution architectures and assess business/security impacts.
Communicate security risks effectively to stakeholders.
Foster strategic relationships with industry and technology vendors.
Essential Skills:
Experience in people leadership and technical mentoring.
Commercial acumen and supplier engagement.
Minimum of 5 years in Security Architecture with complex solution design experience.
Ability to solve enterprise-scale security problems with high ambiguity.
Experience in architecture or technology strategy development.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of IT systems planning and technical architecture.
Experience in Service Oriented and RESTful architecture design.
Experience in secure cloud-based solution design.
Relevant industry certifications such as CRISC, CISSP, CISM, SABSA, CCNP, CCSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT 5, CGEIT.
