The Vice President Business Partner, Finance, Growth & Risk is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Finance, Growth and Risk functions within a multi-line reinsurance company. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of risk management techniques, capital planning and management strategies, treasury management (incl. derivative trading) and reinsurance-specific financial considerations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Risk Officer, Chief Growth Officer and Group Chief Financial Office to drive financial performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the role will serve as a conduit between finance and the Growth and Risk functions, presenting to business leaders and executive leadership on investment activities impacting the broader organization.   This role will be aligned to our Jersey City, NJ office on hybrid basis.

What You Will Do:

  • Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial leadership for the Finance, Growth & Risk functions, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. 
  • Segment Support: Collaborate with the capital, treasury, corporate development, risk and finance functions to develop structures to optimize capital, liquidity, accounting and tax considerations, including deployment into new growth opportunities. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and standards, including financial reporting and solvency regulations.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
  • Strategic Planning: Support the development and execution of strategic initiatives including development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive growth and profitability in the life and annuity business.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial results and strategic plans to internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor within a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field. MBA, CFA, or other advanced finance qualifications preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a senior financial leadership role within the reinsurance or insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of reinsurance industry practices, investment products, regulatory and accounting requirements.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to craft narratives that connect financial performance to strategic goals, ensuring clarity and impact.
  • Adept at communicating financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering alignment and understanding.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive long-term financial planning; understands current market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills; proficiency in financial modeling and financial principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and guide and mentor teams through thought leadership and support.

The base salary range for this role is listed below and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.  

Base Salary Range
$200,000$260,000 USD
