Position Description:

Develops applications and maintains databases using technologies (Python, JavaScript, and SQL). Develops Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) workflows in Oracle, Apache Airflow, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Snowflake, using Windows Task Scheduler. Applies Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes and tools - GitHub, Jenkins, Docker to streamline database and application deployment and integration. Creates restful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using Python, Flask, and FastAPI. Develops Single Page Applications (SPAs) using JavaScript, Typescript, Angular, and Angular Material. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Designs, creates, and maintains database schemas.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent)  and five (5) years of experience as Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) analyzing data and performing data transformation and report visualization for  Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) within the financial services industry, using Python,  Oracle 19c, and AWS.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) analyzing data and performing data transformation and report visualization for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) within the financial services industry, using Python, Oracle 19c, and AWS.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) calculating risk metrics and managing data, using Snowflake, Oracle SQL Stored procedures, and database objects -- tables, indexes, sequences, views, and synonyms; developing Web-based applications in an Angular framework with AG Grid and Python RESTful Web services; and connecting internal trading activities with the broad market, using Bloomberg Server API.
  • DE implementing data analysis, data mining, data integration, and data transformation for applications assisting with wealth advisory, investment and portfolio management, customer segmentation, fraud detection, and FICO score delivery, using MongoDB and Golden gate replication tool.
  • DE deploying Python and Single Page Applications (SPA) in New Issue Trading and Corporate Action Review processes, using CI/CD pipelines in AWS EKS, Docker, Jenkins, Groovy scripting, and Datadog.
  • DE providing investment professionals with an overview on Market Opportunities, Market Spread, Fund Positioning, Cash Management, Performance Attributions, and Risk Management through customized investment summary dashboards in a Fixed Income Asset Management environment, using Python, Dash, Plotly, AG Grid, Oracle 19c, and Snowflake.
