In this vital role the Director of Strategic Planning & Operations will be responsible for orchestrating the smooth functioning of ATMOS, building capabilities that promote communications, collaboration, transparency, data, etc, and ensuring operational excellence. This role requires a self-starter, resourceful, strategic thinker, cross-functional connector and influencer, and an outstanding executor who can manage a wide range of responsibilities, from internal and external communications to budget and headcount oversight in partnership with Finance, cultural promotion, and strategic approach to agenda management. The candidate we seek will work closely with the Chief Technical Officer (CTO), ED of Strategy & Performance, and other leaders to drive strategic initiatives and foster a cohesive, successful organization. The Director of Strategic Planning & Operations will report to the Executive Director of Strategy and Performance

The Strategy & Performance (S&P) pillar of ATMOS is a critical element of our mission. The S&P pillar was established to run ATMOS operations by driving our prioritized agenda, optimizing our budget and communications, and promoting an outstanding experience for our ATMOS employees through career development and DI&B initiatives. Finally, S&P leads the charge on Enterprise Technology and Data Governance to increase our technology investments to deliver our innovative pipeline of medicines to patients.
Chief Technical Office (CTO) Support - In partnership with CTO’s Executive Assistant, Corp Communications and HR, manage the CTO’s engagements, messaging, and presentations. Facilitate CTO portion of Board presentations. Facilitate effective communication and strategic alignment between the CTO and other stakeholders. Communication and Connectivity – Develop, orchestrate and implement a robust communication strategy across ATMOS and between ATMOS and other Amgen functions. Strategically manage ATMOS leadership meeting agendas, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, including financial cycle, and timely execution of key initiatives. Leverage technology platforms to keep communications organized and intuitive. Cultural Promotion - Partner with Talent Experience, ATMOS HR and Corporate Communications to promote and nurture a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing culture across ATMOS. Leverage Technology platforms to keep ATMOS connected and foster a strong sense of identity and belonging. Strategic Planning & Operations Network -Create and lead a strong network of Strategic Planning & Operations across ATMOS to ensure cohesion, alignment, and optimal communication and planning within ATMOS and with external stakeholders. Project Management – Lead ATMOS change management initiatives. Conduct project scoping and chartering, define implementation strategy, and guide project completion. Develop a set of roadmaps and dashboards suited for executive consumption. Lead a high volume of projects simultaneously while consistently delivering high-quality results. Budget and Headcount Management - Oversee the ATMOS budget and headcount for executive consumption in partnership with Finance. Partner with ATMOS leaders to ensure efficient resource planning and financial management.

What we expect of you

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Strategy, Business Development, or Operations experience
Master’s degree and 8 years of Strategy, Business Development, or Operations experience
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Strategy, Business Development, or Operations experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Proven track record of promoting and nurturing a healthy organizational culture.
Experience working in a cross-functional, matrixed organization.
High emotional intelligence (EQ) and situational leadership skills.
Experience in leading large-scale organizational initiatives or change management projects.
Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, SharePoint, and setting up new technology platforms.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interface across all levels of the organization.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Deep knowledge of Project Management tools and practices.
Strong leadership and team management skills.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
