ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, which are to be performed accurately, efficiently, within company safety and quality standards, and within required time frames as needed.  Other duties may be assigned.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

  • Ensure all employees follow safety and environmental regulations
  • Support and coordinate all processes in assigned areas to ensure key metrics (safety, quality, delivery and cost) are achieved every shift
  • Teach, coach and train other team members, as well as lead the department in the Team Leader’s absence
  • Ensure team members are properly trained; aid in the training process for all cross-training, new and transferred team members and temporary staffing
  • Audit and reinforce adherence to standard work by all employees in assigned area; ensure operator PMs are completed, Product Inspection Procedures (PIPs) are followed, ensure daily/weekly 5S audits are completed and target is met
  • Drive TAKT attainment improvement through the use of basic problem solving tools to ensure that root cause for issues is identified and permanent corrective action implemented
  • Perform troubleshooting, minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed in accordance with training
  • Use issue board and plant escalation process to escalate issues beyond the Lead’s scope and responsibility to the Team Leader
  • Responsible for assisting in the review and editing of standard work instructions
  • Recommend cell improvement through knowledge and understanding of equipment and processes
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency for process improvements
  • Record Hourly production counts for the lines
  • Track and identify repeat issues to Team Leader for root cause analysis, and assist with solution identification
  • Interface with Maintenance and Engineering to provide solutions for department issues
  • Recommend and participate in Rapid Improvement Events for TAKT improvement
  • Participate in startup meetings and assist Team Leader in posting Operational Excellence on morning-walk-through boards
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to follow Leader Standard Work, Work Instructions, SOPs, Operational Methods Sheets (OMS) and other procedures as required
  • Ability to use computer applications such as AS400, Excel, and MS Word
  • Acquire and demonstrate an understanding of basic Lean and Operational excellence concepts
  • Must be adaptable to change, safety conscious, and have strong communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, manufacturing procedures, operations manuals, governmental regulations, and an extensive variety of information furnished in various forms (i.e. verbal, written and/or diagram form)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, peers, customers, and production employees 
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times with all levels of customers, vendors, visitors and employees
  • Ability to effectively lead teams and individuals
  • Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes
  • Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively and effectively in a team environment demonstrating excellent project management and facilitation skills
  • Ability to judge distances, spatial relationships, and perform visual and/or mechanical inspections; ability to distinguish colors and finish

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity; ability to repetitively use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze; reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, frequently and for extended periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Ability to operate industrial powered equipment within manufacturer’s height and weight requirements and guidelines for operators
  • Ability to frequently lift up 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 60 pounds, and rarely lift over 60 pounds.  Any lifts over 35 pounds should be done with assistance.  

MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Obtain appropriate LCN Powered Industrial Vehicle licenses, including license to operate a forklift
  • Ability to use two hand palm buttons
  • Ability to use pneumatic tools
  • Ability to use testing equipment

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Exposure to various chemicals including greases, oils, and adhesives in safe exposure amounts and approved for use in our facility by EHS
  • Exposure to temperature changes
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels with intermittent loud noises
  • Exposure to vibration
  • Exposure to dirt and/or dust
  • Exposure to sharp objects and parts
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, protected by approved guarding and controls

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum requirements:
    • Three years of related experience
