What You Will Do
As an AI Governance Engineer, you will play a vital role in guiding Stryker’s AI strategy and adoption. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and shape AI solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, risk assessments, and ethical and regulatory standards. Your expertise will drive innovation while promoting responsible AI development.
- You will evaluate and guide AI solutions proposed to the AI Operating Committee, ensuring compliance with governance standards.
- You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and risk analysts to create AI strategies that align with business goals.
- You will identify potential risks in AI implementations and develop strategies to address them effectively.
- You will work with legal and compliance teams to meet ethical standards and data privacy regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR, and ISO requirements.
- You will participate in AI proof-of-concept projects and experiments to explore new applications and technologies.
- You will maintain detailed technical documentation for all AI initiatives.
- You will keep abreast of advancements in AI to recommend best practices in design, development, and deployment.
What You Need
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Data Science is highly preferred).
- Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in software development or AI-related roles is required.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python is required.
Preferred Qualifications (You do not need to have all of these)
- Familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI system architecture.
- Knowledge of APIs, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and cybersecurity principles as they apply to AI.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, such as the EU AI Act, NIST guidelines, or similar.
- Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation and Agentic AI systems.
- Knowledge of bias detection and mitigation strategies in AI models.
- Experience in regulated environments, particularly with MDDS or SaMD software.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages (e.g., C++, Swift, or JavaScript).

$112,800 - $239,900 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
