Role purpose

The role is responsible to design and develop scalable and reliable systems. The role sits between development and operations and will be able to design and develop software which will be used by both teams to advance monitoring , automation and system performance

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software which will be used by both operations and platform development
  • Drive the evolution of Cloud Platform to be more scalable and reliable
  • Influence the appropriate decision makers to continually improve service
  • Build systems across Azure, AWS or GCP following cloud architecture best practices
  • Maintain and administer Web Application Firewall configuration
  • Measure and optimise platform performance ensuring that the platform is constantly meeting customers' needs
  • Proactively spot problems, areas of improvement and performance bottlenecks

 

Skill Requirements

  • Completed training in Azure Fundamentals, AWS and GCP Fundamentals
  • Knowledge of designing, developing, operating, and managing Cloud environments at scale
  • Development experience of at least one high-level programming language
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as code
  • Experience with the use of Terraform for managing infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Understanding of CI/CD Source code management (git)
  • Understanding of Monitoring and APM tools (e.g. Kibana, Datadog)
  • Experience with maintaining a Web Application Firewall service (e.g. Cloudflare, Akamai, cloud native)
  • Design of native Cloud applications, Cloud application design patterns and practices
  • Experience in designing available, cost efficient, fault tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Strong, creative problem solving skills and analytical in nature
  • Comfortable working in cross functional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to build a strong rapport internal operational and development teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills with great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to research and self-study to keep technical skills relevant with a strong desire to learn new technologies
  • Experience in hosting infrastructure and applications
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment
