Job Summary
The Radiology Technician in Mammography will perform Mammograms and Bone Density studies.

Reports to: Kelli Strickland, Breast Imaging Manager

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Perform Mammograms and Densitometry studies, including retakes and additional view takes
• Perform studies properly distinguishing between a screen, diagnostic, unilateral, follow-up, and implant exams
• Interview patient and explain procedure(s), any forms needed to be completed, any possible complications, and how much time involved; Answer patient questions
• Verify paperwork before performing exam. Verifications include but not limited to: patient’s name, date of birth, medical history, physician’s name, and type of procedure and location of procedure, prior to exposure
• Perform Quality Control checks which include but not limited to: DEXA QC as needed; Detector flat field evaluation and compression thickness checks, etc…
• Perform breast biopsies and needle localizations as scheduled
• Complete charge information according to the exam performed and the insurance, grant, contract indicated
• Review films with assigned Radiologist
• Prepare the exam room before each patient, ensuring all supplies needed are on hand and ready for use
• Clean and maintain equipment after each use
• All other duties assigned to Breast Imaging

Education and Experience
• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology
• +1 year of hospital or clinic experience in mammography

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• BLS Certified
• TDH-MRT certification
• ARRT (M) registry

Skills and Abilities
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Organized and strong attention to detail
• Able to work with minimum supervision and or instructions

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position works closely with radiologist and other mammography team members

Physical Capabilities
Work requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, and transporting patients, equipment and/or supplies. Should be able to lift 50 pounds. Visual acuity is needed to read equipment and patient imaging charts

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is a high risk
