Overview of Role

The Company is seeking a motivated finance officer who is keen to be a part of the Structured Trade Finance Business Development team in assisting in arranging structured trade commodity, and shipping asset financing deals in support of the Group’s growing business development ambitions in the Asia-Pacific region.

The role requires the candidate to assist in corporate funding projects and undertake live-transaction collateral stratification. The candidate will also assist with a wide range of duties, including analyzing data, preparing and stress-testing financial projections and cash flow models, pre-transaction collateral evaluation, preparing pitch deck using financial reports, and contributing towards the origination and development of a portfolio of STF and ship financing solutions to enhance the Group’s structured trading flows and asset financing requirements. The role requires the utilization of a core set of common skills to assist in M&A deals within the Asia-Pacific region.

This is an exciting opportunity for any candidate keen to pursue a structured commodity and corporate financing role. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on live transactional assignments and actively participate in professional negotiations with the banking community, business partners in commodities trading and finance professionals across different continents.

Main Responsibilities

  • Translate raw accounting data into meaningful financial dashboards for senior management under pre-agreed framework
  • Prepare write-ups, prospectus, pitch books and materials for presentation purposes
  • Assist in drafting documents and term sheets by collating and analyzing deal data and verifying source information
  • Perform cash flow modeling on deals to calculate asset and loan amortization tables
  • Collate research materials, industry analysts’ and brokers’ reports, and draft agreed-upon communication points for manager’s review
  • Collaborate with other members of the finance team on funding, facility renewal and deal monitoring activities, to ensure smooth financial close of transaction
  • Manage contact list for banks and counterparties involved and follow up on live deal progress
  • Assist with coordination and logistics for bank meetings and presentations
  • Support the deal team in ad hoc projects and communication to external parties
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by manager

Profile

The individual should have the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with major in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • Minimum 5-7 years assisting in a corporate finance or investment banking deal origination role
  • Good knowledge of local and regional commodity markets and ship financing sector
  • Good knowledge of loan documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with strong proficiency on advanced Excel and Powerpoint capabilities
  • Strong aptitude for Mathematics
  • Strong grasp of financial and accounting principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in English and Mandarin (to liaise with mandarin-speaking clients)
  • Self-starter, display pro-active mindset with ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Organised and meticulous with ability to offer out of the box solutions
