What you need to know about the role

We are seeking a data scientist to join an expanding credit analytics team, focusing on PayPal Credit UK (PPC). The role involves working with stakeholders to produce insights and reports on marketing, consumer, merchant, and product analytics.

The PayPal Credit Analytics team supports regulated credit products in both the US and UK. We regularly collaborate closely with stakeholders from Marketing, Product, Sales, and Portfolio teams to achieve key objectives and drive business growth. We are based in our London, UK offices.

You will contribute to the analytics team that supports the PayPal Credit product in the UK by delivering actionable insights. Your collaboration with stakeholders in Marketing, Product, Sales, Portfolio, and Finance will ensure data-driven solutions to achieve business objectives. You will significantly influence strategic decisions by developing insights in customer segmentation, product usage, marketing campaigns, and portfolio behaviour. Identifying key metrics and building executive-facing dashboards will be crucial in tracking the progress of the business and its highest-priority initiatives.

Your day-to-day:

In your day-to-day role, you will:

  • Aggregate PayPal’s large and varied datasets, building data pipelines to serve reports and dashboards.

  • Develop and maintain detailed reports and dashboards for the PayPal Credit product in the UK.

  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance stakeholders to ensure regulatory objectives, such as complying with Consumer Duty, are met.

  • Support various departments with data and insights to help them achieve their specific goals.

  • Monitor and analyze key metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure business initiatives are on track.

What do you need to bring:

  • A degree in a quantitative field is highly desirable but equivalent experience can be considered.

  • 4+ years in a data science/analytics role, ideally in a financial organisation, working with a wide range of datasets and stakeholders.

  • Experience with SQL is essential, and the ideal candidate will also have experience of creating dashboards (Tableau) and a scripting language (Python).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to build relationships with non-technical stakeholders, to take complex business problems, develop solutions, and communicate insights.

  • A good understanding of financial products and payments data, ideally in a regulated environment.
