As a level 3 facility the Emergency Center is equipped to manage chest pain, minor and major trauma, hemorrhage, acute medical illness, drug overdose/ substance abuse, psychiatric, neurological. The Beaumont Grosse Pointe serves over 52,000 patients annually. The EC provides comprehensive emergency treatment/ care to all patients of all ages.

Scope of work

Under direct general supervision of the Registered Nurse and following hospital policy and procedure, provides nursing care to patients. Implements nursing care procedures and evaluates patient progress. Provides teaching to patients and their families. While actual responsibilities and duties may vary depending upon the clinical area assigned, the following are typical of duties that would be performed, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

  • Required successful completion of a Practical Nursing program from an approved school.
  • Completion of pharmacology course work (NAPNES or minimum documented 32 hours). Required
  • LIC-License Practical Nursing (LPN) - State of Michigan, upon hire required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire from one of the following organizations - American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke and other certifications as required by department.
