Job Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Financial Manager, the Lead Ambulatory Insurance Verifier is responsible for gathering complete and accurate data for the eligibility verification process of insurance coverage for all clinic and professional billing. As a lead in the department, the incumbent will answer questions, train, audit, and support the Ambulatory Insurance Verification team where needed. Daily tasks and responsibilities are inclusive of, but not limited to, verifying eligibility for scheduled clinic visits, outpatient visits, same day care, and inpatient visits, in addition to completing projects as assigned. The incumbent will verify insurance eligibility and benefits, confirm and / or obtain authorizations, and appropriately document the patient’s financial responsibility.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Associate degree preferred. Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred

Minimum Experience Requirement:

Previous insurance verification experience, hospital or ambulatory admission / registration experience or previous healthcare office experience preferred. Microsoft Office experience required. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
