The Senior Field Service Technician is responsible for operating DOT-regulated commercial vehicles while traveling to customer sites throughout the region to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair water treatment and pumping equipment. This is a highly travel-focused position requiring extensive overnight travel, often for multiple consecutive weeks, supporting customers at various project locations.

This role combines technical field service work with safe transportation of equipment and materials. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, enjoys working independently, and is comfortable spending the majority of their time traveling to customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Transport equipment, tools, and materials to customer locations.
  • Install, troubleshoot, inspect, maintain, and repair water treatment, pumping, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service calls.
  • Work independently in the field while maintaining communication with internal teams.
  • Document service work, inspections, and customer interactions.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Xylem professionally.
  • Follow all company and customer safety requirements.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Obtain and maintain required customer site clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.).

Travel Requirements - This is an extensive travel position.

  • Travel is required 75–80% of the time.
  • Candidates should expect frequent overnight travel.
  • Assignments may require being away from home for up to three consecutive weeks or more before returning home.
  • Flexibility to travel throughout the assigned territory is required.
  • A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required for occasional cross-border travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card upon hire.
  • Ability to obtain required customer site clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.).
  • 1-3 years of field service, industrial maintenance, diesel, mechanical, electrical, or related technical experience.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and mobile devices.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
