About the Role & Team

Disney Television Animation is looking for a Background Painter to join our newly announced Disney Junior series, Sofia the First: Royal Magic!

What You Will Do

• Work closely with the Art Director and/or Background Paint Lead to apply color, textures and details to approved background designs
• Reference color keys established by the Color Stylist to adhere to show style and guidelines
• Further the storytelling process using color, design and sense of light
• Adhere to the production schedule provided by Line Producer to ensure cost effective, timely production
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications & Skills

• A portfolio demonstrating expert knowledge of color and color theory, including the ability to design and paint in a variety of styles
• Ability to align with style and color sensibility of a particular show
• Knowledge of drawing software that includes Photoshop, Illustrator, Harmony and 3D technology, where applicable
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Positive attitude with the ability to be flexible

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior knowledge and experience working in television animation production pipelines

Education

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

The pay rate for this role in California is $53.16 to $62.02 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
