South Pointe Hospital’s Emergency Department has 22 beds and provides 24/7 emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care, to more than 35,000 patients of all ages each year. Known for their collaborative, team-based approach, this department strives to be the best place to receive care and is focused on providing an environment for caregivers to learn and become experts in their field. 


A caregiver in this position works variable shifts, 7:00pm—7:30am or 7:30am—7:30pm.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. 

  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.  

  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. 

  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources. 

  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. 

  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-related role.  

  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework. 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • College degree.  

  • Microsoft Office experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
