Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Communications and Social Performance Manager to join the Communications and External Affairs function for Australia and New Zealand.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive strategic communication strategies to support bp Australia's business objectives to protect and enhance reputation.

• Manage and deliver effective internal and external communications across various digital and traditional channels.

• Speech writing, issues management, and media relations for ANZ.

• Provide communications and advocacy advice and support for bp Australia's interests and key policy positions.

• Help influence policy outcomes with communications and external affairs activity and plans.

• Manage bp Australia’s social performance portfolio, including leading the development of the 2026 RAP, social investment strategy, Labor Rights and Modern Slavery document annually (2027).

• Show strong stakeholder engagement skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

• Apply commercial competence to ensure communication and social performance activities align with business goals.

• Produce high-quality written materials, including press releases, reports, and internal communications, demonstrating strong writing skills.

Job Qualifications

• Proven expertise in communications, public relations, government relations or political staffing capacity, or social performance roles within a complex organization.

• Understand the nexus between news cycle and politics.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies along with stakeholder engagement plans.

• Strong understanding of digital communication platforms and standard processes.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to build strong networks, internally and externally.

• Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform decision-making.

• Ability to influence and advocate effectively.

• A strong commitment to ethical conduct and social responsibility.

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
