This position will be in the MK1 program as part of Lunar Permanence business unit at Blue Origin.

As manager and lead of the MK1 Configuration team you responsible for overall vehicle configuration and associated trades, vehicle CAD, mass properties, vehicle configuration analyses (like dynamic clearance, sensitive surface, contact etc.), vehicle level engineering drawings and cross-subsystem interfaces, vehicle level routing of commodities. You will also work on deploying new configuration approaches and adoption of tools, along with developing and maintaining MK1 vehicle configuration baseline. You will also be responsible for defining program level guidance on engineering release and addressing design for manufacturing concerns across the program. You will work to integrate MK1 Configuration approaches with configuration initiatives across the Lunar business unit and Blue Origin.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the single threaded leader and champion of overall vehicle configuration and all associated trades, decisions for the MK1 program.
  • Developing, lead and manager a team of configuration engineers and tech. designers.
  • Develop novel configuration solution to address technical challenges for MK1 vehicles.
  • Lead development of payload accommodation configuration solutions across MK1 programs.
  • Defining program level guidance on engineering releases and interface control modules development.
  • Maintain and manage vehicle Bill off Materials.
  • Anticipate and proactively solve configuration related problems across the MK1 Program.
  • Communicate with our internal engineering and business teams to provide rapid and effective solutions.
  • Identify and work with broader group of Lunar Transportation Business unit and Blue Origin stakeholders as necessary.
  • Establish a culture of data driven decision making, extreme ownership, insights, and lean processes.
  • Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest standard.
  • Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.
  • Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with configuring spacecrafts and landers.
  • Demonstrated experience managing configuration related tools and workflows.
  • Expert practitioner in iterative development methodologies with experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Working knowledge of configuration tools like Creo, NX etc.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Relevant Vehicle Configuration experience on past space missions/programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with coming up novel configuration concepts; understanding and balancing constraints levied from various subsystems.
  • Experience with configuration analyses and mass properties development, tracking.
  • Experience with creating system level interface control modules and vehicle level engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of development and management of EBOM.
  • Working knowledge of engineering change management tools like Windchill
  • Experience with System Engineering and System Architecting
  • Design for manufacturing expertise.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $167,088.00-$233,923.20

Other site ranges may differ
