As the MedTech Data Governance Lead, Director, you will define and drive the data governance strategy across MedTech — partnering with senior leaders in business, IT, RA/QA, analytics and operations to turn policy into measurable outcomes. This is a high-impact, cross-functional leadership role ideal for an experienced data governance leader who thrives on influence, structure, and measurable results in a regulated environment.
Define and lead the MedTech data governance strategy, policies, standards, and operating model to support corporate priorities and regulatory obligations.
Establish and evolve a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with Johnson & Johnson’s corporate data principles and MedTech regulatory requirements.
Drive adoption of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across functions; build clear roles, responsibilities and hand-offs.
Develop and complete multi-year roadmaps to advance data governance maturity and capabilities.
Lead all aspects of development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of policies for data quality, metadata, master data, access, and lifecycle management.
Ensure compliance with privacy, regulatory, and security requirements (for example GDPR, HIPAA, FDA/RA) relevant to MedTech.
Lead deployment of the Johnson & Johnson Data Management Council data quality framework and index within MedTech, including measurement, monitoring, and remediation.
Implement data quality KPIs, scorecards, and dashboards to measure accuracy, completeness and reliability; lead root-cause analysis and corrective action plans for systemic issues.
Convene and chair federated governance forums (Steering Committees, Data Councils) to align on priorities, risk, and resolution paths.
Engage and influence senior stakeholders across business, IT, analytics, RA/QA and operations to ensure consistent governance adoption and business value realization.
Communicate governance goals, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
Perform other duties as assigned.
10+ years of meaningful experience in data governance, data quality, regulatory data management or related fields, including at least 5 years in a regulated industry.
Demonstrated experience defining and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks, policies and operating models.
Strong cross-functional leadership and influencing skills; proven track record to build partnerships and credibility with senior leaders across a matrixed organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience driving root-cause analysis and remediation for data issues.
Ability to prioritize and deliver results under shifting priorities and time constraints.
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
Proven experience in IT, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain or Quality within MedTech or similarly regulated sectors.
Hands-on experience with metadata management tools, data quality tooling, and data governance platforms.
Experience implementing data quality KPIs, dashboards, and index-based measurement frameworks.
