Schedule: Part Time - 30hrs/week

What You'll Do

Freeman Health System is seeking a full-time nurse practitioner to work in a collaborative practice model with our medical oncologist to coordinate care for a panel of complex patients in southeast Kansas. This is an outpatient role where you will be part of a comprehensive cancer center that offers patients the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options. This key team member will be responsible for functioning as a consultant, educator, resource and role model for patients, families, community, nursing personnel and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Orders appropriate laboratory, radiologic, and special examinations or tests required for evaluation of illness or as directed by physician.

  • Prescribes, authorizes, and approves refills for medications.

  • Assists with managing medical emergencies with physician

  • Provides monitoring and continuing of care between physician visits as ordered by the physician

  • Provides counseling and instruction regarding patient problems

  • Maintains and reviews patients’ records independently, post test and examination results and other pertinent information in a timely manner.

  • Performs patient education for chemotherapy and other medications.

  • Performs complete medical history and physical at all patient visits.  Documents all in EMR accurately and timely.

Requirements

Current Kansas Advanced Practice Nurse licensure as a Nurse Practitioner according to KS State Board of Nursing.

Current Kansas Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.

Preferred requirements

Oncology or Critical Care experience preferred. Will train the right person.
